OWL Arithmancy
Lesson:
Hello, and welcome to the OWL Arithmancy course. This course will cover everything you have learned thus far in Arithmancy, and will all be on the exam. We will begin with a history of Arithmancy, and then move right onto the most common form of Arithmancy. We will then talk about the meaning of each number, which should be the numerology review. Our final section is going to be Arithmancy with birthdays.
Now, let us begin. Arithmancy originated in Ancient Greece. Arithmancy literally means "Divinations by numbers." The ancient Greeks used Arithmancy to predict the future, determining whether they would do great in battle, or determining if the king was fit to rule. The Chaldeans also practiced Arithmancy for the same purpose. They created the first number chart, based on the seven known planets. They split up their alphabet into three sets of 7 letters. It was from this chart we got our present chart. The three key numbers are the character number, heart number, and social number.
The three key numbers are the social number, found by adding the consonants, which is the personality shown to the world. The heart number is found by adding the vowels, and describes your deepest desires, what's hidden. The character number is found by adding all the letters, and it tells who you are as a whole. The numbers can be found by adding together the letters, and reducing them until they are single-digit. The letter Y, however, is a tricky one. This letter can be used as either a consonant or a vowel. I will leave the decision to you, as it all depends on how the letter is used in your name. If it is used as a vowel, then it goes in your heart number, if it’s used as a consonant, then in the social number.

Now, we will move onto the numbers and what they mean. As you can see, my character number is a 3. That’s all fine and dandy, but what does that mean? What does it make me? According to your books, I am enthusiastic, optimistic, and fun-loving. My social number is 8, which means that I appear to be money-oriented, decisive, and stern. My heart number is 4, which means that the part of me very few people see is practical, traditional, and serious. Now, there is more to every number than a few adjectives that make you look good. There are some bad aspects to each number, and some of you won’t like what you see.
One: They are leaders, self-sufficient, ambitious, bossy, impulsive and shy. They stand out and can be inventive. Many ones become leaders in politics, or entrepreneurship.
Two: Twos are loving, peaceful, analytical, supportive, lonely, and quiet. They need to have harmony and order in their life. Many twos are counselors or partners in a business.
Three: They are outgoing, imaginative, enthusiastic, joyful, but aren't self-disciplined and fear routine. They don't accomplish things easily. Threes always have a good time, and would do well as a party-planner, press secretary, or in advertising.
Four: Fours are hard workers who get things done, and are practical and rigid. They fear downsizing and a lack of routine. They need security and order in their life. They often become an administrator and a team player.
Five: Fives are bold, daring, persuasive and materialistic. They are very restless and get side-tracked easily. They love to try new things and taking chances. They work in media and help develop ideas for businesses.
Six: Sixes are warm, nurturing, reliable, and domestic; however, they are also opinionated and are often easily taken advantage of. They enjoy taking care of loved ones and being safe and comfortable. They become personal assistants, educators or caterers.
Seven: Sevens are deep thinkers, unique and eccentric. They are very aloof and have a fear of being unsuccessful. They are observers and enjoy learning new things. They often go into the analytical field.
Eight: Eights are decisive, forceful, accomplished, and good with money. They do not like things that stand in the way of their goals. They strive for control, power, success, and status. They work in the professional field, often as an operator of a small franchise.
Nine: Nines are inspired, intuitive, and creative. They have bad habits and attend to detail. They always see the big picture and have big dreams. They are community leaders and often help small business owners organize.
Now, another way to find the character number is by using your birthday. You take the numbers in your birthday, mine, for example, is June 8, 1980. I take the numbers six eight one nine and eight, since the number 0 doesn’t effect the outcome. This number is called the birth path number, and it tells you what you do best, your natural abilities.
Birth Path:
The second version of “Birth date Arithmancy” is very simple. You merely take the day that you were born, for me it would be the eighth, and that will give more character traits. Since I was born on the eighth, I believe that everyone should work hard. The number reveals your point of view concerning the world.

And now we’re getting to the fun part. This next section is not review, and it is in fact even more ways to find a new set of numbers. The destiny number takes your full name, first, middle and last, and finds one number. This number maps out the purpose and goal in your life. If you take your destiny number and your birth path number and add them together, you will find your realization number, which shows what you could possibly accomplish.
Just look at all the ways to find out more about your life. What could happen, why it will happen, how you can make it happen! Now, is Arithmancy always completely correct? No! But let me tell you, it is very often close to correct. I hope you all take Arithmancy seriously and test it out, then return in a few years and tell me how life is going. Did you open a huge business and become successful? Or maybe you decided to settle down and start a family, spending time there. Good luck on your OWL, and I hope to see you in the NEWT class.Examination:
